Swimming Pool Guide

The best places to swim in Kilifi — public clubs, resort day-passes and your villa pool. All public pools close at 9:00 PM.

Water safety

Stay safe in the water

No rescue team on site

There is no lifeguard or pool rescue team available. Children below 12 years or below 140 cm height must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Protect your skin

Apply sun cream or oil to avoid burning — reapply often, especially midday.

Return villa chairs

If you took chairs from the villas to the pool, please return them to the villa before you leave.

Coastal pool essentials

Never swim alone — and always keep children within arm's reach.

Shower before entering the pool to keep the water clean for everyone.

No running on wet decks — surfaces get very slippery.

Reapply sunscreen every two hours and drink plenty of water in the heat.

No glass containers near the pool. Use plastic or shatterproof cups only.

Avoid swimming for an hour after a heavy meal or any alcohol.

Beat the heat

Stay hydrated

Kilifi's sun and salt air drain moisture fast. Keep water close by the pool and sip often.

Drink water steadily through the day — aim for at least 2–3 litres in the coastal heat.

Don't wait until you're thirsty; by then you're already mildly dehydrated.

Take shade breaks between swims, especially between 11 AM and 3 PM when the sun is strongest.

Add a pinch of salt and lemon to water, or sip fresh coconut water, to replace lost electrolytes.

Watch for dizziness, headache or a dry mouth — cool down and rehydrate immediately.
